CANMUN V
Meet Your Chairs
Deputy President
Donna (Ruotong) Li
President

Welcome to the General Assembly! I am Ruotong (Donna) Li, and it is my honor to serve as President of the General Assembly alongside Eric and Ray. I am currently a sophomore at Beijing World Youth Academy. This is my second year participating in MUN, and CANMUN marks my twelfth conference and fifth time chairing. For this session, we will be focusing on the topic “Protecting Civilian Infrastructure in the Israel-Palestine Conflict.”
From being too nervous to raise my placard during my first debate to now serving as a student officer, MUN has been far more than just a platform for debate. It has enriched my life with experiences in collaboration, confidence-building, and global citizenship. I sincerely hope each of you will discover that same passion and experience meaningful growth throughout this conference.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at 2108006234@wya.top.
See you all soon!◟(˶> ᎑ <˶)◞

Deputy President

Dearest Delegates,
My name is Eric Xiao, and I am currently a Grade 8 student at the British School of Beijing, Shunyi. It is an honor to serve as your Deputy President of the General Assembly at CANMUN, which will be my 13th conference and my 3rd time chairing.
Over my past three years in MUN, I've met incredible people, gained new insights, and became a more confident and knowledgeable person. It is my hope that you all have similar experiences, lasting memories, and most importantly, have fun during CANMUN. I can't wait to listen to all your speeches, amendments, and POIs!
Looking forward to meeting you all at the conference.

Hi everyone! My name is Aarush Thakar, and I am honored to be serving as your Grade 8 Chair for CANMUN 2026 General Assembly. I began my MUN journey back in Grade 7, and ever since my first conference, Model United Nations has become one of the most exciting and rewarding parts of my school experience. What started as trying something new quickly turned into a passion for debate, diplomacy, and the fast-paced energy that every committee brings.
One of the reasons I enjoy MUN so much is the atmosphere it creates. There is nothing quite like a heated debate where delegates passionately defend their country’s stance. At the same time, MUN also creates fun memories outside formal debate This year marks my first time chairing, and I am very excited to take on this new role. As a chair, my goal is to create a committee environment where everyone feels included, respected, and confident enough to participate. I want every person in the room to have the chance to speak, improve, and enjoy the experience. I also aim to keep debate energetic, productive, and in proper procedure because the best committees are the ones where delegates are engaged.
